Independent by design
No coordinated voting. No required political position. The Institute exists to improve the quality of independent decision making, never to align it.
What independence means in practice
These commitments are structural. They constrain what the Institute is allowed to publish, teach and recognise.
DSI does not coordinate votes
The Institute never endorses, coordinates, prescribes, rewards, or punishes the direction of a member's vote on any governance action. There is no internal position, no whip, and no recommended outcome.
DSI is not a voting bloc
Membership creates no expectation that representatives vote together. Members regularly reach different conclusions from the same material, and that is a healthy result rather than a failure.
DSI does not instruct DReps how to vote
Education, frameworks and research describe how to examine a decision. They never supply the answer, and no member is asked to report or justify the direction of a vote to the Institute.
Standards are voluntary
Every standard published by the Institute is a voluntary professional practice: a recommended practice, reporting framework or evaluation framework. Nothing here is mandatory, and nothing confers authority over any DRep.
Individual DReps retain complete independence
Each representative remains solely responsible for their own decisions, their own disclosures and their own public record. Using Institute material changes none of that.
An independent initiative
The Institute currently specialises in Cardano DRep governance. It is not part of the Cardano ecosystem's official institutions, and it holds no formal role in on-chain governance.
